gtav-logo-1105

Grand Theft Auto 5 is clearly primed for a media blitz, what with a confirmed release window and loads of retail leaks, but where’s the expected second trailer? According to Rockstar, a planned trailer has been delayed by fallout from Hurricane Sandy. “Its hard to be precise as we have no power whatsoever in our New York office,” the publisher noted in a comment on its blog.

Assassin’s Creed 3: Sandy closes midnight launches, street date broken

20120813_assassins_creed_3_2

With Hurricane Sandy bearing down I’d expect you to have other matters on your mind, but on the off chance, be advised, via Kotaku, that midnight launches for Assassin’s Creed 3 have been cancelled in areas likely to be affected by Hurricane Sandy. Call ahead if you’re unsure whether your local store is staying open, and if you really must get hold of a game you’ll be unable to play when the electricity goes out, Kotaku also notes that some vendors have broken street date in compensation for the cancelled launches. (Also, Kotaku’s inaccessible from my desk right now; let’s blame Sandy for that, too.) Stay safe, friends.

Wii U queue dispersed ahead of Hurricane Sandy

wiiu3

Isaiah-Triforce Johnson has had to abandon his position as the head of the queue for the first Wii U in the US as New York battens down ahead of Hurricane Sandy’s arrival. This is disappointing for Triforce, although he’s quite sensible about it, but almost certainly the least awful consequence that is likely to result from the extreme weather, especially as Nintendo will let him take top spot again. Best wishes to everyone in affected areas. The Wii U launches in November assuming the world hasn’t exploded by then.

Thanks, Kotaku.
