American McGee says approval process for XBL and PSN needs work
American McGee has told Geek.com that the approval process for digitally distributing games through PlayStation Network and Xbox Live needs to evolve.
Citing his recent stint into episodic gaming with Grimm, McGee feels that the game could easily make the transition to consoles if the process did not take so long.
“The content could certainly make the transition – porting this sort of stuff is straightforward – and the audiences are indicating desire for things like Grimm on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network,” he said.
“The biggest issue we’ve found is inside the content approval and distribution model at the publishers. When a single title might take months to get through review and approval (take Braid, as an example), pushing 24 episodes through would translate to years of approval process.
“Content and audience are there, but the process isn’t. Hopefully that will change someday soon.”
McGee said in the same interview that players should be compensated for user created content in games such as LittleBigPlanet.

American McGee feels users should be compensated for created content
American McGee has told Geek.com that users who create content for games like LittleBigPlanet should be compensated for the added value.
“I seem to recall this being a ‘trend’ back in the Doom days,” he said. “The only difference now is that someone is trying to monetize it.
“That’s all fine and good, but I think if game products or publishers are relying on ‘outside the box’ content created by users to drive interest in their titles – then they should find ways of compensating those users for developing added value. That might even inspire the user content communities to step up their game.”
He also goes on to talk about the upcoming Alice game with EA, and his experience working on episodic gaming through Grimm.

That should get you pumped until Just Cause 2 comes out sometime this year.

GameTap Thursday gets Grimm Vol 3 and Serious Sam II

GameTap uncorked the final volume of American McGee’s Grimm yesterday with Episode 17: The Frog King, as well as adding Take-Two’s bullet-ridden Serious Sam II.
This Grimm episode sees a naïve young princess discover just how messy love can get when she hooks up with an unusually charming – albeit slimy – frog. All new episodes of Grimm are free for the first 24 hours.
Serious Sam II is also free for its first week on the service, but there are close to 142 free games over there to play should you sign up, so you’re pretty much spoiled for choice on the “free” front.
More Grimm is expected next week, and gold members will soon get Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, and Titan Quest with the Immortal Throne expansion pack.

American McGee announces next Spicey Horse project
According to his blog, American McGee is starting work on a “UE3 based, big publisher, multi-platform, twisted tale project’ – pre-production is starting soon”.
The developer, probably best known for retelling of Carrol’s Alice in Wonderland, is currently recruiting for people to work with him in China at his studio, Spicey Horse.
“This is going to be a world-class product, and we’re hoping to attract world-class talent to the team,” McGee added. “If you’ve liked what you’ve seen/heard about ‘Grimm’, or were a fan of ‘Alice’ – then you’ll not want to miss a chance to work on this project.”
He’s now recruiting for a heap of positions for the team. Take a look, if you fancy it.
