To celebrate the fact Gears of War 3 became golden yesterday, not only did Epic eat cake, but the firm also released the opening cinematic from the game. Gears 3 will grace store shelves on September 20, which is rather close to a certain day a certain someone was born, who would love to see it wrapped in paper which suits such an occasion. Microsoft and Epic have releases four new screenshots for Gears of War 3. Each one is an in-game shot of the Horde campaign. Check ‘em out for yourself below. Gears 3 is out in September and will support stereoscopic 3D.

Those who visit the official Gears of War Facebook page and “like” it, will get a Gears of War 3 code for the multiplayer character Aaron Griffin, voiced by Ice-T, on XBL. Griffin will also be available on September 20 to the Facebook community when the game launches, but if you want him early, all you have to do is enter the code. Go check it out. Thanks, Lolshock.

Gears 3 executive producer Rod Fergusson has compared the leaked build of the game, which was released on torrent sites early last month, to a person showing how a magic trick is accomplished before performing it.

Speaking to GameTrailers: “I was on a panel with Tsunodo Kudo, and we were talking about Kinect Fun Labs, and he was saying they’re embracing a lot of the homebrew and hacker stuff that’s going on with Kinect. Generally speaking, when it comes to hackers, you want to embrace a lot of what they are doing instead of fighting it. When Epic announced Gears of War 3 had been moved from April into fall 2011, you could hear folks hopes shatter around the globe in a massive wail of despair. Well, our wail of despair was loud enough for everyone, we reckon.

However, after the dust settled, it was clear there was a very good reason for the delay: a beta, and dedicated servers. According to Cliff Bleszinski, the addition of dedicated servers will provide “a level playing field for everybody” and that is good news indeed.
