The ECA wants you to tell president Obama how great games are, seeing as how he’s always banging on about putting them “away”.

The form is apparently designed to allow you to “point out some of the ways that video games have empowered and educated you.”

We’ll tell him about our shooting skills. They’ve improved no end since we got addicted to first-person murdering on the Xboxes.

In the wake of Barack Obama saying that a US Health Care reform entails “going for a run or hitting the gym, and raising our children to step away from the video games and spend more time playing outside,” EA Sports’ Peter Moore has issued the President a challenge: Try EA SPORTS Active and I guarantee you’ll need aides saying “Yes You Can!” to finish your first workout.

Moore writes that he still finds Nintendo Wii a refreshing experience and believes “there are more consoles getting far more use in American homes than there is exercise equipment, so it’s up to us to continue to use the platform for good.”

Presidential hopeful Barack Obama has spent $44,465.78 on in-game advertising in the run-up to the US election, Gamespot reports.

The campaign, which was widely reported as appearing in Burnout Paradise, started on October 6 and ends on November 3.

The ads span 18 games, apparently.

Details were released through the Obama campaign’s pre-election filing with the Federal Election Commission.

Barack Obama has won an unofficial presidential vote through Xbox Live, with 43 percent of almost 100,000 people marking their X for the Democrat.

Obama sailed to victory by a margin of 12 per cent, while rival McCain registered 31 percent of the total vote.

At a campaign stop in Indiana, Barack Obama made mention of the hype surrounding GTA IV and claimed that games in general are “raising” US children. From Game Politics:

I was just catching the news this morning about Grand Theft Auto, this video game, which is gonna break all records and make goo-gobs of money for whoever designed it. Now, this isn’t intended for kids, although I promise you there are kids who are playing it, but these video games are raising our kids…

Across the board, middle-class, upper-class, working-class kids, they’re spending a huge amount of their time not on their studies, but on entertainment.

And so part of our job is going to have to be to inspire the entire country to say, ‘How are we giving our kids a thirst for knowledge?’ And turning off the TV set, and getting them to be engaged and interested, like their future really does matter on how well they do in school.”

This is the second time Obama’s mentioned games in his campaigning recently. Politics is great, right?

Presidential hopeful Barack Obama reckons parents should be encouraging their children to read instead of allowing them to level up, telling Americans that “government can’t do everything” when it comes to education.
