armyoftwo40thday

EA has announced that Army of Two: The 40th Day has been scheduled for January 8 and 12 in the UK and US, respectively.

Originally it was slated for sometime this  summer, without a firm release date given – but now its coming in January.

armyoftwo40thday2

More dripping from Comic Con over the weekend. Army of Two: The 40th Day creative director Alex Hutchinson confirmed that the game is to feature expanded multiplayer modes over the original at the event, saying it’ll allow more than four players to get busy online.

The shooter will feature a “fully client/server” connection, with “many more modes and more people allowed to play.”

The original had three multiplayer modes and up to four players allowed.

Army of Two 40th Day trailer gets moral

armyoftwo40thday3

EA Montreal’s latest Army of Two: The 40th Day trailer – seen below – details a morality system in the title.

Basically, you press buttons to make choices in certain situations. You can be good or bad. You can make decisions as partners. Want to kill a do-gooding guard? Go ahead. But what about his goddamn family?

And that’s it. It’s out later this year.

Army of Two: The 40th Day “hands-off” demo looks chaotic

armyoftwo40thday2

Army of Two: The 40th Day was at the EA booth, but not everyone got their hands on it.

Therefore, D’toid has posted its impressions of the “hands-off” demo given at E3. Luckily it already knew what to expect from an earlier demo.

Apparently, it’s a chaotic game with helicopters carrying tanks slamming into buildings, people running for their lives and skyscrapers falling on top of each other while Rios and Salem shoot everything that moves.

Great stuff. Hit the link for more.

armyoftwo40thday

EA put out some new Army of Two: 40th Day shots this morning.

Not much involved in the screens other than, obviously, war.

There’s a kid in there that looks a bit like Short Round. Not sure why, but E3 will likely reveal all.

Joystiq has all four shots posted. Go take a look.

EA admits being “over-ambitious” with Army of Two

armyoftwoa2

Reid Schneider, senior producer of Army of Two: The 40th Day, has told UK mag PSW that the team overstretched itself with the original game.

“If it’s not a core focus of the game, then it doesn’t really make sense to include it and with the first one, I think we got a little over-ambitious,” he said.

The sequel, releasing across three formats this winter, is to pull back a little compared to the first title.

“We’re trying to make something a little more grounded in reality,” Schneider added.

“You’re going to have waves of enemies and harder enemies to kill but the notion of boss fights… we did it a little bit in the first game but here we want to keep an air of credibility to the events.”

Thanks, OXM.

EA announces Army of Two: The 40th Day

armyoftwo40thday

EA’s just officially announced Army of Two: The 40th Day.

The game is exactly as rumoured, taking place in Shanghai and featuring the same characters from the original, Rios and Salem.

From the release:

When a disaster of epic proportions strikes Shanghai, China, Rios and Salem find themselves right in the middle of it all — the wrong place, the wrong time, but the right team. A carefully orchestrated series of mysterious catastrophes is dragging Shanghai to the brink of ruin, and now the Army of Two must fight their way through ravaged city districts as they try to beat the odds and uncover the secret of the 40th Day.

PS3, 360 and PSP this “winter”.

Full thing after the break.

A ton of “rumoured” information was released last week, saying the game’s based in Shanghai.

We’ll knock the “rumour” of this one. It is true.
