Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate reviews drop, all the scores here

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate reviews have been hitting the west this morning. The game launches this week in the US and Europe, and we’ve got the scores here.

Instead of doing a review I’ve decided to do a pair of blogs and videos charting my progress through Capcom’s massive RPG. Expect the first one later today. The game launches in the US from March 19, and in Europe March 22.

Here are the review scores in full:

Nintendo Life – 9/10
IGN – 8.8/10
Gamesvillage – 8.8/10 (Wii U edition), 8.6 (3DS edition)
GodisaGeek – 8/10
Eurogamer Italy – 7/10
gamesTM – 7/10
Digital Spy – 4/5 (Wii U), 3/5 (3DS)
Shopto – No Score

Got a score? Whack it in the comment box below and we’ll add them when we can.

Could you compare this to the Soul’s series or dragons dogma?

@2
From what I understand very different to both, but then I’ve only tried the demo.

Worth having a punt on the demo of MH3U – available for both WiiU and 3DS. Though I would caveat that with it being quite a poor demo from the perspective that it’s very unfriendly. Little in the way of instruction or help.

I would like to know from a trustworthy and honest person. I take offical reviews with a grain of salt. Is this game too hard? I played the demo and was blown away by the scoop of the game. The graphics were great. The control was a bit sluggish. The crafting looked like it held a lot promise. And in many ways it reminds me of Capcoms take Phantasy Star Online. However, the demo was so damn hard I couldn’t finish either hunt and i didn’t enjoy my time spent playing.

Is the demo representive of a normal Monster Hunter game?

I have never played a MH game before the demo.

@10 if you like grinding(defeat monster over and over for carve items, regularly mine ores and farming) in a game then this game is for you. It have no level/experience system (aside from your companion cat) but do have hunter’s rank.

Basically you are going to regularly upgrade your armor and weapons as more monster going to be tougher to kill as the game progresses. It all about the satisfaction of hunting down the monsters(solo or with friends) and gained their loot.

@2
I know this may not make much sense but I tried a demo and it felt like Borderlands more than Souls or DD. It mostly reminded me of the BR1 and 2 missions where we are sent into a mostly wild (Man-free) area and have to kill some kind of super Skag or something.

I really don’t enjoy MH to be honest. It’s to slow for my taste but that’s probably because I don’t like the stop combat and gut the animal aspect. I also like to stay in the action but its so restrained on how you use your weapons.

I personally can’t get into MH but that doesn’t mean you won’t like it. I think you might have the same taste in Adventure grindings like me with PSO, Rag, etc

Capcom shouldn’t have released that demo. I think it’s a poor example of what it’s really like to play MH. I’m worried that a lot of people are going to get turned off by it and not give this excellent game a chance.

MH is like a large book or tv series that takes more than a few episodes to get into. With MH, I think it took me about 20-30 hours into Freedom Unite and then I became a huge fan.
