Infinity Ward director of communications Rob Bowling has confirmed that there’s going to be an update on the “potential” release of the Call of Duty 4 Variety Map pack for PC in the near future.
“We’re getting ready to announce official submission guidelines / location for the Community Map Contest. In the coming week or so we’re going to be letting you know where you can go to officially sign-up and submit your Custom Community Map on the PC,” he said, talking on his blog.
Bowling added: “I should also have some official news for you on the status of the potential map pack release on the PC along with the Community Map Contest news. So expect that news in the near future as well.”
“Potential” sounds a little ominous. The pack has already been released for PC and is working its way through PS3 certification. We’ll have more on this soon.

No reason has been given for the slip, but Infinity Ward said last week that the content had been sent to Microsoft for submission, so it may be something to do with that.
