Tiberium canned for “not meeting standards”
According to this Kotaku story, EA’s stopped work on C&C-based FPS Tiberium because, essentially, it wasn’t up to scratch.
“EA has suspended work on Tiberium effective immediately,” said Mariam Sughayer, EA spokesperson. “The game was not on track to meet the high quality standards set by the team and by the EA Games Label. A lower quality game is not in the best interest of the consumers and would not succeed in this market.
“This decision will result in some individuals being released. However, EA will make every effort to place talented people on other projects. Eligible employees will receive severance and outplacement support.”

C&C FPS Tiberium delayed to fiscal 2010
Speaking in EA’s first quarter earnings call last night, the publisher confirmed that C&C FPS Tiberium has now been delayed until fiscal 2010.
This means there’s no chance of the game shipping before next April, pushed back from the existing release date of autumn 2008.
No reason was given for the delay. Thanks, Joystiq.

Tiberium part of “epic story”, says EA
EA producer Chris Plummer has given a pretty clear indication that C&C-based FPS Tiberium is the start of big plans for further games.
“It’s too early to disclose any details about future Tiberium games right now, but there is a master plan for an epic story,” he said. “You’ll just have to stay tuned to find out. It all starts with Tiberium.”
Tiberium’s looking really rather splendid, certainly given the unmitigated disaster that was Renegade, the franchise’s last foray into the first-person. It’s out this autumn for PC, PS3 and 360.

Six minutes of in-game Tiberium footage
This looks pretty cool, and certainly better than the rendered trailer doing the rounds yesterday. You’ll find six minutes of proper Tiberium gameplay here. The C&C FPS spin-off is shown looking in remarkably good shape, so there should be none of the horror encoutered last time EA had the bright idea of going first-person with Renegade. Definitely watch that movie. The game’s down as “autumn 2008″ for Europe for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
