Live from Leipzig – Details of tomorrow’s press conferences
We’re in Leipzig. We suffered the train with no air conditioning from Berlin. We gesticulated wildly to make a nice German lady understand that we wanted a return ticket to the Messe. We’re stealing Games Convention’s free wireless as we type. It’s all happening.
Games Convention 2008 kicks off properly tomorrow morning with the EA press conference at 9.00am CET. That’s 8.00am BST, if you’re in the UK. The biggie tomorrow is the Sony conference at 5.00pm CET. You can read timings for everything that’s going on tomorrow here. Below is listed everything we’ll going to (try to) live blog. All times are CET.
- 9.00am – EA press conference
- 10.00am – Konami press conference
- 11.00am – Ubisoft press conference
- 2.00pm – Activision press conference
- 5.00pm – Sony press conference
We’ve got meetings tomorrow as well, so some of this might not happen, but we’ll do our damndest.
After the press day tomorrow, the consumer show itself starts, and we’re back to back with games viewings and interviews all day. The show’s massive this year, so keep it locked this week for everything GC.
Right. Coffee action.

Everything’s here. Anyone will be able to watch the site’s live streams from the show, but Insiders will be able to do the full video thing. We’re going to do a round-up of all the places you’re going to be able to watch the conferences over the weekend. Don’t forget any of the timings: you wouldn’t want to miss anything.

G4 announces E3 coverage schedule, live streaming of all conferences
US TV channel G4′s announced its schedule for E3 coverage this year, and it looks extensive. All of the conferences are being broadcast without commercials, a good thing. Hit the link for all the details.
Better, though, is a promise that all press conferences will be streamed live on the firm’s site, and not just the platform holder affairs. Amazing news, and a first. Go through and look for yourself. Looks like E3′s coming to you this time.

E3 press conference timetable shows packed schedule
Here we go. More gaming information that you can force into your brain will be released next week, and we’ll be awake as much as we can be to post it all. As you probably want to know when things are actually happening, Kotaku’s kindly put together a timing list of all the press conferences in the first three days of next week. After that it’s just the “show” itself, which probably means a heavy drop-off in news, but we’ll just have to see.
Looking at this, there’ll be no getting up in the middle of the night for Europeans eager to catch up on what’s going on this time, as all the platform holder conferences are in the morning LA time. Our California cousins are eight hours behind, so that’s about as civilized as you can expect.
All times are PST.

The 10 most memorable games tradeshow press conferences of all time
E3′s shit. Well, most of it is, anyway. But prefacing a week of swanning around in Santa Monica and Hollywood doing a bit of typing and getting taxis, there are three business presentations that set the tone for the entire coming year in games. Undoubtedly, the E3 press conferences are videogaming’s annual highpoint, sometimes for all the wrong reasons.
You will get up at 3am to watch a man in Los Angeles talk about “penetration” and point at graphs, in the vague hope that this is “the one”. The megaton. The one where Gates shows the next Xbox. The one where Miyamoto shows the Zelda evolution. The first glimpse of the new Metal Gear. The one that makes your hair stand on end.
Of course, there’s a global circus of tradeshows surrounding games now – E3, GDC, Leipzig, etc – and they all have their classic press conferences. But which were the best, the worst, the most memorable? With E3 looming, we thought we’d tell you. Through the link.
