EA Sports’ senior vice president of worldwide development, Andrew Wilson, has said the firm will continue to release boxed games as long as it continues to be a viable business. However, he doesn’t feel consumers shopping at GAME and GameStop stores as much today as in the past.

“A world where we’re not involved in fighting is a world I’d rather not think about. That said, what goes on in the sport, and what’s gone on between the UFC and Strikeforce, certainly has an impact on what we can do in the space. I am, other than [EA Sports MMA executive producer] Dale Jackson, probably the biggest MMA fan here. So it’s not a ‘no,’ but it’s also not a ‘yes’. “We’d love for there to be one because I’m a diehard fan of the sport. We have to figure out how to make that happen.” – EA Sports’ chief of development Andrew Wilson told Kotaku on the chances of an MMA sequel.

EA Sports’ senior vice president of worldwide development, Andrew Wilson, talking to Eurogamer: “We have not focused on PS Move for FIFA, but that’s not to say we won’t. There have been different problems we’re solving as we go through the process. That’s not one we’ve sought to solve. We’ve focused a lot with PS Move with Tiger, and we’ve looked at other sports where it seems a natural fit. What we learnt coming through the Wii development cycle is to use the controller to add value, and if the controller doesn’t add value, don’t use it. Far be it for me to say the Move controller is right or wrong for FIFA. We’ve not seen it to add value today. But it’s only one person that comes and says, ‘I’ve got a great idea.’”
Don’t worry, Sony-lovers: it won’t have Kinect support either.

EA claimed today that an average of 1.25 million online games of FIFA 09 are played every day, and that over 141 million online games have been played in total.
The average figure is a 321 percent increase over FIFA 08′s online stats, apparently.
“Online is the next great frontier in sports gaming. We are seeing a record number of individuals globally playing FIFA 09 online so we are focused on developing games that maximize the online experience,” said FIFA boss Andrew Wilson.
“A dedicated team developed FIFA 09 Ultimate Team and they have created a game within the game, delivering a strategic new way to play FIFA 09 that will create hundreds of additional hours of playing time.”
EA’s releasing a new online mode – FIFA 09 Ultimate Team – to help you get the best out of your million of hours of play.
