YouTube hiring for new console applications

Google is advertising for a new software engineer in what looks like a plan to deliver improved YouTube streaming to consoles.

The ad calls for a game console software engineer with "deep technical knowledge of Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 and/or Nintendo Wii" to "build the next generation game-console-based TV experience with You Tube video content".

Interestingly, the ad also asks that the applicant have experience with engine development and at least one major published game.

Both the PS3 and Wii already feature a YouTube solution within the firmware browsers, but it's pretty basic, and most certainly doesn't "delight users with innovative media rich solutions".

Thanks, GoNintendo.
