You can no longer buy skin codes for your League of Legends characters

League of Legends players who wanted to acquire rare or limited edition skins for their characters, would usually acquire them through third-party sellers. Leading to some of them getting scammed and others paying exorbitant amounts for one skin. League of Legends developer Riot Games has decided to no longer offer skin codes in an effort to prevent the scamming.

The developer posted an update on its forums breaking the news and confirmed that you will have until July 23 to redeem an keys that you have legitimately acquired, before Riot deactivates all skin codes.

"These sites promise limited edition skins for League of Legends, when in reality they acquire codes illegitimately and exploit players. They charge excessive prices (we found one skin for over $1,000!) and sometimes take payment and never provide the content. You can’t predict the outcome, and no purchase is ever guaranteed regardless of what the seller says," the developer said.

The developer is also talking with various payment processors to advise them not to accept payments from the third-party sellers.

Thanks, Gamespot.
