Xleague re-launches as standalone production company

UK TV outfit Xleague's announced today that its being reimagined as a standalone content provider.

Xleague was formerly part of the Portland Group, and won a GMA last year for its now defunct British cable show, Games Night.

“Gaming as an entertainment medium is more accessible, more visual, and more interconnected than ever before,” said boss Ray Mia.

Former Portland Media Group Channel to Provide Games Content for Mainstream TV

6th February 2009 (London, UK) – XLEAGUE.TV, formerly part of the Portland Media Group and the first UK televised video games channel, has been established as a standalone business to provide high quality video games content and related media for the entertainment industries.

XLEAGUE.TV will be seeking commissions to film, produce and distribute game-related content for mainstream UK television. In addition, XLEAGUE.TV will continue to produce award winning video game related programming for the community and industry, such as "Games Night" the Games Media Awards 2008 Best Broadcast category winner.

Rights to historical online and video assets have been purchased by the TNWA Group, who will become a non-exclusive partner moving forward. Being the largest online competitive gaming community in the UK, TNWA Group will also absorb XLEAGUE.TV’s competitive gaming logistics and community management, allowing the XLEAGUE.TV to focus on content generation.
