XCOM: Enemy Unknown full game headed to iOS

Here's what you've been waiting for since you first fell in love with XCOM: Enemy Unknown and regretted having to leave it at home every day; the Firaxis strategy gem is headed to iPad and iPhone, with no feature left behind.

Firaxis announced the port at its PAX East panel, but a video of Jake Solomon discussing the new version was released shortly thereafter. "All the tactical, strategic gameplay that you have experienced on the PC and consoles has now been optimized for iOS devices," he said.

Solomon confirmed that the full game is available in the iOS version, but in a later interview with Kotaku, said there are fewer battle maps.

No word on multiplayer, though, or cross-save - which would be awesome, let's face it.

Apart from touch controls, it seems pretty similar; the iPad and iPhone versions have different interfaces. The Elite Soldier DLC DLC will be bundled in, but the Slingshot pack will not, and the jury is still out on Second Wave.

The port is due in northern summer, but pricing information was not released except to mention that there will be no in-app purchases.

"It's going to be priced appropriately for what it is. It's going to be a premium price point. It is the game. It is the full game," Solomon told Joystiq.

No Android version has been planned, but Firaxis is not ruling it out in the future.

During its panel, Firaxis also announced a release date and XCOM crossover for Civilization 5: Brave New World.
