XCOM E3 demo walkthrough shows off RPG elements

Finally, we at home can take a look at the XCOM demo shown at E3 in June - complete with developer commentary, no less.

2K Marin's reinvention of the classic turn based tactics franchise puzzled many on first announce, looking like a bog-standard shooter, but the developer brought a new demo to E3 this year, concentrating on and highlighting some of the RPG and strategic elements.

Despite earlier denials of "big changes" to the game in the wake of its initial, somewhat negative reception, and later insistence that it had "evolved, not changed', narrative director Jordan Thomas admitted to "pretty aggressive design changes" in the video description.

The full 20 minute demo is presented below.

XCOM is expected on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in early March.
