Xbox Series X Quick Resume feature supports three games minimum

The Quick Resume feature of the Xbox Series X will support at least three games at any one time, according to Microsoft.

A detailed report from Digital Foundry revealing the Xbox Series X specs notes that the Quick Resume feature supports at least three Xbox Series X games at any one time.

Quick Resume is a feature that lets players jump back into a game within seconds, zipping through different save game states, rather than having to load up the game.

The Digital Foundry reports states that they watched this feature cycle through four games; Forza Motorsport 7 running in 4K60 Xbox One mode, State of Decay 2, Hellblade and Xbox 360 title The Cave. The lower the memory the game uses, the more titles can be cached in this way for Quick Resume.

"Microsoft wasn't sharing the actual size of the SSD cache used for Quick Resume, but saying that the feature supports a minimum of three Series X games," reads the report.

The Xbox Series X specs revealed today show what Microsoft's next Xbox is really capable of, and how it compares to the current Xbox One X. When it comes to making backwards compatible games playable on the Xbox Series X, developer The Coalition reckons it took only two weeks to have it running RTX 2080 standard on Xbox Series X. Backwards compatibility is so important to Microsoft's next Xbox that it has added HDR at a hardware level.
