Xbox 360: 'No more price cuts in 2012', say analysts

Xbox 360 may not enjoy another price cut any time soon, analysts have suggested. Although Kinect just enjoyed a $40 price cut in the States, evidence suggests that Microsoft isn't in a hurry to cut the full console price just yet.

GI.biz fielded opinion from analysts to determine the likelihood of an Xbox 360 price cut.

EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich told the site, "I don't believe an Xbox 360 price cut is imminent. The Xbox 360 hardware still leads in sales and I do doubt whether we even see a price cut at all in 2012."

"However," Divnich continued, "we should expect a holiday season full of discounted and limited edition bundles that, on paper, would reflect a price cut. But a full price cut on the base hardware, I wouldn't expect one until early 2013."

The supposed 2013 reveal of 'Xbox 720' seems to be a defining factor in Microsoft's reluctance to slash retail costs.

RW Baird analyst Colin Sebastian explained, "We still expect the launch of the next Xbox in the fall of 2013, so there will still need to be a price cut on the current gen, although perhaps not until after the holidays. I am sure retailers will offer their own promotions this holiday though."

What do you think? Is Xbox 360 winding down to a price cut before the reveal of Xbox 720, or is it already reasonably priced?
