Wrecked: Revenge Revisited revealed as sequel to Mashed: Drive to Survive

This is one of those divisive headlines. Right now you're either squealing in utter delight or pulling a face that makes an empty wall look expressive.

Destructoid reports Wrecked comes courtesy of 505 Games, and is in development at Supersonic Software, a partner of Codemasters.

Previously known as GAS, the game was first announced in May 2009 and is the spiritual sequel to Supersonic's Mashed: Drive to Survive. Having nabbed a publisher and a new title, the game now seems to have hit full sequel status.

Released in 2004, Mashed offered a surprisingly robust multiplayer experience at a time when you still had to buy a weird attachment to get your PS2 online. As such, it was hailed as genius by the cult crowd and completely ignored (or derided) by everyone else.

Wrecked is due on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade some time this year.
