World of Tanks adds Japanese tech tree, 14 new tanks

World of Tanks is introducing a new Japanese tech tree, with five light and nine medium tanks joining the roster. The trailer through the break shows off these delightful new additions.

The new Japanese tanks - the seventh national line in the free-to-play MMO - include the Chi-Ri prototype, the first post-war Japanese design Type 61, the light Type 95 Ha-Go and the medium Chi-Ha tanks. The Type 64 (STB-1) will become the Tier 10 medium model.

“The introduction of Japanese tanks allows us to explore the design and innovation of a number of legendary armored vehicles and give players the chance to experience their technological evolution throughout the mid-20th century," producer Mikhail Zhivets said in a statement.

“Tank models based on original designs of Japanese engineers will offer players a wide selection of authentic upgrade schemes, each tailored for particular combat objectives.”

World of Tanks is currently in beta on Xbox 360; see VG247 play it very badly indeed.
