Wolfenstein: The New Order has been given a release date by Bethesda, along with the news that all pre-orders of the MachineGames' developed title will be granted beta access to the next DOOM title from id Software.

The DOOM beta comes with each pre-ordered copy of Wolfenstein. Bethesda did not provide additional information on the DOOM title, so it's unknown at present whether it is the long-awaited DOOM 4 or a different entry in the series; however, all signs point to DOOM 4.

Former id Software co-founder Tim Willits said during QuakeCon 2013 that DOOM 4 was being retooled as of 2011, but there was nothing to discuss at the time. Last we heard, the game is slated for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

If you follow the link to the website in the paragraph above, you will note the following information:

"An insert will be included inside your boxed copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order. This insert will include a key code along with code redemption instructions. Once the key code is redeemed, you'll be registered to participate in the DOOM beta once it begins. Check back with the website for updated information," the disclaimer reads.

"Although you'll receive the DOOM beta key code with your copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order, the DOOM beta won't begin until a later, yet-to-be announced date. We will contact you with news and updates surrounding the start of the DOOM beta via the email address provided during the key code redemption process."

Bethesda has said that the only way to ensure access to the beta, is through pre-ordering Wolfenstein: The New Order, currently.

Wolfenstein is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in North America on May 20 and throughout Europe on May 23.

Box art is posted below along with a new gameplay trailer.
