CD Projekt RED's press conference today unloaded quite a few details on pre-orders and the Collector's and Premium Editions for The Witcher 2: Assassin's of Kings.

Get the goods below.

Let's start with the different editions of the game.

There will be three editions of the game on offer: the Premium and Digital retail versions and the Collector's Edition which GameStop already outed this week.

  • The Retail Premium Edition will be the standard edition of the game, and comes with The Witcher 2 on DVD, a Making of DVD, Soundtrack, World Map, Game Guide, a manual, a Pamphlet and coin containing a special version of selected in-game items, and two unique papercraft figure for $49.95/£34,95/€49,95.
  • The Digital Premium Edition will have all of the above in digital, with everything paper related in PDF form for printing, along with wallpapers and Avatrs No coin though.

Pre-order bonuses will vary by store, as each will have some DLC on offer to get you to buy it there instead of elsewhere.  Details on what each retailer will have on offer will be announced closer to release, but you can expect to see the following participants:  GameStop (US, Germany), Amazon (US, UK, France, Germany), HMV, and more to be announced.

Certain DLC items to expect from the retailers are: Suits, a secret merchant, and a Finisher Pack.

As noted by Eurogamer this morning, GoG.com will be selling the digital edition, DRM-free,and along with Steam, those who pre-0rder will get 10 percent off the game.

Pre-order bonuses on Steam have yet to be announced, but over on GOG, when pre-purchasing Witcher 2,  you'll will get to choose from one of the following RPG games - free of charge: Gothic 2 Gold, Realms of Arkania 1+2, Realms of Arkania 3, Divine Divinity, and Beyond Divinity.

On top of that, you will get access to a few extra songs not on the soundtrack, Avatars for the GoG forums, wallpapers, and a tour of the developer's studio in photo format. Upon your pre-purchase, all content will be made available immediately - except the Witcher 2 of course - and your card will not be charged until the day the game is released.

It's a lot to take in, and a lot to choose from. Thanks go out to GameBanshee for explaining it to us.
