WikiPad delayed, new launch date expected "soon"

Gaming tablet WikiPad has suffered a last minute delay, missing its planned launch in the US today.

In a press release, WikiPad said the delay was caused by "a last minute opportunity to enhance the Wikipad bundle as well as a minor refinement needed to ensure our first customers are completely satisfied with the Wikipad".

Retailers were advised of the delay earlier, and WikiPad noted specifically that those who pre-ordered through GameStop will receive a bonus gift with their purchase. GameStop pre-orders have been frozen for now.

"We are in the final stage and will be announcing the new date soon," the company promised.

WikiPad is a Tegra 3-powered Android gaming tablet with a removable, control-pad like shell. It costs $500, and has support for Gaikai, Onlive and PlayStation Mobile in addition to standard Android services like Google Play.
