Wii U: Nintendo giving away free dev-kits to spark interest - rumour

Nintendo is apparently giving free Wii U dev-kits to developers in an effort to rekindle interest in the format.

Nintendo Life reports that Wii U dev-kits typically sell for $5,000, but a tweet from Destructoid writer Jonathan Holmes suggests that they are now being given away gratis:

Nintendo hasn't said anything to confirm or deny this claim, but if true it could point to either a desperate attempt to get more studios on board, or it could be part of an indie push, similar to what Sony has been doing with PS4.
