Wii discontinued in Europe, Nintendo confirms

Although the original announcement only applied to Japan, Nintendo UK has confirmed that the Wii has also been discontinued in Europe.

"Wii imports to Europe have been discontinued," a representative told MCV.

"However, there are still a variety of options for consumers to enjoy Wii games and the Wii gameplay experience. Wii U, which is Nintendo's latest home console, is backwards compatible with nearly all existing Wii games and accessories when you switch to Wii Mode on Wii U."

Additionally, the Wii Mini will continue to be stocked in Europe, and if worse comes to worst you can always purchase on in the US, where the console has yet to be discontinued.

Thanks, CVG.
