After a week of technical deep dives about Xbox Scorpio from many outlets, and a few teases of the console's dev kit, Microsoft is now ready to talk more about the development kit itself beyond the nifty features of the front panel.

The manufacturer has released a new video dedicated to discussing some of what into the creation of the Xbox Scorpio development kit. Major Nelson is joined by Kevin Gammill from the engineering team to explain things as obvious as why dev kits exists, to more complex subjects such as how the Scorpio dev kits have more power than the retail consoles.

The example given is how the dev kit includes 24GB of GDDR5 RAM, as opposed to 12GB in the retail box. It also comes with a 1TB SSD as its main drive, and the CPU has 4 extra CUs.

Gammill also touches on the front panel and how programmable it is, as well as some of the extra ports on the back and what they're often used for by developers. The design of the dev kit, according to him, is a response to feedback they received from developers before the launch of Xbox One. This also manifests itself in smaller things like how the airflow now allows for dev kits to be stacked on top of each other.

Xbox Scorpio will have its final name revealed at Microsoft's E3 2017 conference this Sunday, June 11. We also expect to hear about the price, release date, as well as some of the game's that'll be available at launch.
