Watch Dogs team enlisted feedback from Kaspersky Labs to make hacking more realistic

Watch Dogs, as you know, will contains loads of hacking into Chicago's Central Operating System. In order to give players a more realistic feel to said hacking, Ubisoft Montreal enlisted the expertise of Kaspersky Labs.

Speaking with Joystiq, senior producer Dominic Guay said the team chose Kaspersky due to the "hardcore" hacking experts it employs.

"We send them some of our designs and we ask them feedback on it, and it's interesting to see what gets back," he said. "Sometimes they say, 'Yeah, that's possible, but change that word,' or, 'That's not the way it works.'"

In the game, as noted yesterday, hacking is a way for the main character Aiden to use security camera to note enemy positions, open doors, change the flow of auto traffic, and use the city’s crime prediction data to track down criminals before they do the deed.

However, there's more to it than just hacking into something to accomplish a goal, some planning will also be involved, and doing so can also cause dynamic and unpredictable events.

"It's not about the minigame that will let me open the door, it's the fact that I'm making a plan," said Guay. "I'm making a plan of how I'm going to chain hacking, shooting, traveling the city and driving to achieve an objective."

Watch Dogs releases on PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U and Xbox 360 in North America on November 19, and in Europe November 22.
