Watch Dogs 2 video explores how the DedSec name came about, and why it exists
The themes of hacktivism and how they inspired the creation of DeadSec in the world of Watch Dogs 2.
Watch Dogs 2 developers have released a new behind-the-scenes video that details how the idea of hacktivism gave birth to the game's fictional hacking group, DeadSec.
In the video above, members from the team explain how the name was chosen, and how the game draws parallels between real-world entities and in-game ones, and not just with DeadSec.
The team has done some research into the imagine modern of hackers, from their attitudes to how they look. This also carries over to the glitch art-type images you can clearly see in the game's videos, something also inspired by real-world communities.
Although it looks intriguing, it remains to be seen if DeadSec will have an effect on the game world beyond images and iconography.
Watch Dogs 2 is out in November on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
