Watch Demon's Souls running on PC using PS3 emulator RPCS3

There's a way to play From Software's Demon's Souls on PC, and it's all thanks to PS3 emulator RPCS3, which recently received a big update.

The update made the game more stable, though it has been playable in the past in a proof-of-concept state. What the emulator's latest update did was fix a common crash that would occur on loading screens, and some instances of buggy audio.

Now that's taken care of, RPCS3 developers are looking at optimisation. As it stands, the game suffers from performance issues even running on an overclocked i7-6700.

You can watch the video below for an update on the current state of the game. It runs smooth enough, though the CPU requirement is definitely high. This is probably a side effect of emulating the Cell processor.

You can find out more about RPCS3 in this quick start guide. It's definitely worth following if you're into emulation, particularly because enthusiasts haven't quite figured out a perfect emulator for PS3.

Demon's Souls and Bloodborne are unfortunately the only modern From Software games to never see release on PC, which is why this is a big deal. Hopefully more will be able to try it out themselves when the RPCS3 team makes more progress.
