WoW players getting free game time to make up for Warlords of Draenor launch issues

The executive producer for World of Warcraft has posted an apology on Battle.net over the server issues encountered with Warlords of Draenor at launch.

Blizzard plans to make the problems up to subscribers with five days of extra game time free of charge, as long as they were subs on or before November 14, 2014.

Other issues encountered at launch pertained to the new Garrison feature which caused story and player-housing progression issues.

"The first two days of the expansion were not a great experience, with many of you facing high queues or significant gameplay problems," wrote J. Allen Brack. "We worked around the clock to tackle the demand issues and technical challenges, and fortunately things started looking better on Saturday.

"While millions of you were able to get in and play over the weekend, with many already reaching level 100, others still ran into very lengthy queues, particularly on the highest-population realms."

Brack goes on to say the firm is expanding the new instancing tech and will be raising capacity on all realms again.

"This will result in approximately double the pre-launch capacity on each realm, which should greatly reduce queue times for most realms if not eliminate queues altogether," he said.
