Volume concept art shows Thomas Was Alone dev's new aesthetic

Volume, a stealth action game from Thomas Was Alone creator Mike Bithell, is a world away from the simple blocky look of the award-winning platformer, and looks pretty special in its own way.

The art shows protagonist Locksley, enemies, and some of the environmental elements introduced in the announcement trailer. Freelancer Daz Watford is behind them; you can check out other examples of his smashing work on his portfolio.

If the name of our hero hadn't already tipped you off, Volume is a futuristic retelling of the Robin Hood story. In an email, Bithell said he's very pleased with Watford's blending of futuristic context and medieval motifs.

"From the armour styling of the AI, to the gauntlet and quiver like battery pack on Locksley to the awesome celtic patterns on the volume projectors, he's nailed it, and produced a cool tech environment with a British twang. In my opinion," he said.

Volume is coming to PlayStation 4 and Vita.
