VizionEck isn't your typical FPS, and not just because you play as a cube

VizionEck has been announced for PlayStation 4 from developer VizionEck. Yes, the game and the studio share the same moniker.

According to the developer, the game is "technically a FPS" but has little in common with traditional shooter gameplay.

The game puts players in the role of a Ranger, who is a cube, and his health is displayed by how bright the outlines are on your cube.

"Solid white and you’re as healthy as an ox," said founder and lead developer Michael Armbrust on the PS Blog. "Almost black and you’re on the brink of destruction. Even the smallest enemy shot would mark your end.

"This actually has its advantages. The less health you have, the harder it is for enemies to see your outlines. Positioning yourself over a large black surface makes your cube practically invisible. Sneaking up on another player becomes easy."

While the environment in the game will change, one of the best examples of this with the spawn room where there are 24 blocks, but not all are Rangers like the player.

You can hide in plain sight while standing still so that other players will think you are either another block or a Ranger. Should an enemy blasts the wrong block, they will become vulnerable to counterattacks.

The trailer provides some hints on the gameplay, and it's posted above. There is also more information on the game posted through the link, but a release date is not included.
