Vita PS4 Remote Play to tempt triple-A publishers back, says Sony boss

Vita's PS4 Remote Play will help show publishers the platform is worth investing in, says Adam Boyes, Sony's publisher and developer relations boss.

Speaking to Kotaku, Boyes said Sony has three plans to revitalise the flagging handheld, and two of them boil down to connectivity with the PlayStation 4.

Remote Play allows you to play PS4 games on your Vita, and Boyes believe that itself is a big draw, as well as likely to show publishers that the platform can sustain big triple-A experiences.

"You have this amazing sort of triple-A experience when you're in bed knocking out a couple scavenger missions in Assassin's Creed IV right before you go to bed. I think with Remote Play that I'm gonna be playing very little mobile games at home now within the house," he said.

"I do think that the Remote Play aspect of PS4 is gonna help the amount of Vitas that are out in the wild, and then that will start informing more publishers to build that bigger, meatier content."

As well as these two, Boyes expects Sony's indie push to bear fruit, with games like Spelunky feeling natural on the platform.

"We had a ton of announcements at Gamescom for great content like that on the Vita. So the reality is, we're trying to create a bunch of different content for a variety of gamers so they get satiated with a device on the go or within their house."
