Dialogue options in Uncharted 4 aren't widespread

The Uncharted 4 video shown during Sony's PlayStation Experience last week, dialogue options in a conversation between Nathan Drake and his brother Sam popped up. Don't expect this particular mechanic to be prevalent throughout the game.

Speaking with Kinda Funny Games' Greg Miller, Naughty Dog boss Neil Druckmann explained things further.

"There were a few spots in the game where we felt dialogue options would give us something interesting," he told Miller. "So with Sam talking to Nate about his adventures, we thought this was cool nod to the fans. Where would Nate start the story? Let's give fans the option so they can start the story wherever they want."

The fact Nathan's in his 40s now, has given up a life of adventure and his brother who was presumed dead shows up out of the blue after 15 years, a dialogue option fits rather well.

Druckmann didn't elaborate on where other instances of dialogue options would come into play, so we'll just have to find out for ourselves.

He also went on to discuss with Miller why Naughty Dog decided Uncharted 4 was the last entry in the series. He jokingly said that while it was probably a "horrible business decision" on their part, the team felt it was time to wrap things up for Nathan and everyone else.

"These characters are real to us," said Druckmann. "When we're writing for them you can hear their voices in your head. But it felt it was time to wrap it up. We felt like we really came up with something that looks at the three previous games as the start of an arc and this is the finish."

Uncharted 4 will be released for PlayStation 4 on March 18.
