UK MGS4 reviews were written from code supplied at two-day Paris event

Following speculation this morning that Britain's Metal Gear Solid 4 reviews were written from incomplete code, videogaming247 has learnt that UK press reviewed the game at a two-day event in Paris at the end of April.

"Eurogamer reviewed from the same code as IGN UK and the official PS3 magazines," Eurogamer editor Tom Bramwell told us this afternoon.

Konami UK confirmed the game's reviewing conditions, the rep telling us he couldn't see any difference between the code played in Paris and the game in the boxed copy he had on his desk.

"The Paris event was specifically engineered by Kojima Productions to allow key press to see the game and coincide their reviews with its launch," the spokesperson added.

Eurogamer's review attracted much attention after the site gave MGS4 8/10, the piece going live on the same day as IGN UK's 9.9/10.

British magazine Edge also gave the game 8/10, the review being written from the same event as IGN and Eurogamer's.

Both American and British Official PlayStation Magazines have awarded the game 10/10.
