UK games industry takes big hit in March thanks to GAME situation

The UK games industry took a massive beating last month thanks to GAME entering administration, with 2.7 million games sold in March.

Sales were down YoY by a massive 34% from 4.1 million games that were sold in the same period in 2011.

Revenue generated for last month was £67.7 million, down by 33.5% for March 2011. Q1 sales were down 30% in comparison to Q1 2011.

This is no doubt in relation to GAME hitting administration last month. Its since been brought out of administration and bought by OpCapita.

Mass Effect 3 was the biggest selling game of the month, according to Chart-Track data. EA continued to reign for the month, with FIFA Street in second and SSX in third.
