Ubisoft files suit against the Black Eyed Peas for breach of contract

Music games have generated yet another lawsuit, but just for a change, this time it's the publisher suing the artist.

According to court documents dug up by PlayerAttack, Ubisoft is suing BEP Music LLC for failing to respond to requests for approval of an iOS game, as required by a licensing agreement between the two companies. Ubisoft has apparently been chasing the company since March.

The iOS game and license in question are not named in the documents, but as Player Attack notes, BEP Music LLC owns just one trademark - the Black Eyed Peas - and the release information of an existing game produced under the licensing agreement matches that of 2011's The Black Eyes Peas Experience.

Ubisoft claims to have spent €181,000 developing the iOS game so far; in its FY2012 report, the publisher expected to release "The Black Eyed Peas Experience for iPad and iPhone" by June 2012.

This latest music games blarney comes in good company; Axl Rose, Courtney Love and No Doubt both filed suit against Activision over the Guitar Hero franchise.
