Tuesday shorts: NFS: Hot Pursuit, Op Flash: Red River, EA and NPD

Here are your shorts for the day. It's a long one, today.

  • Despite calling its montly sales data a "a misrepresentation of the entire industry," EA has said it welcomes NPD's move to add monthly digital sales data into its reports. More on IndustryGamers.
  • Xbox Live Deal of the Week offers now begin on Tuesdays, not Mondays. Th first deal under this new move is Sonic The Hedgehog. It's down from 800 MSP from 1,200 MSP. Nelson has the lowdown.
  • Australian federal home affairs minister Brendan O'Connor has told GameSpot that it's unlikely that games banned in the country will be reclassified with an R18 if it comes into affect. However, titles that have been rated MA15 are more likely to be reclassified to fit the R18 rating.
  • Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit PC's been updated to version 1.03. It'll fix crashes caused by ATI and Intel graphics cards as well as issues with alt-tabbing and using steering wheels. For good measure, new cars are included. Eurogamer has more.
  • D'Toid has a chat with Codemasters' Adam Parsons on Operation Flashpoint: Red River.
  • Ubisoft Australia discounted its games last week by 100 percent. As in free. It's going to honour the discount, though. Everyone's a winner, baby. Evil Avatar has the lot.
  • Wedbush's Michael Pachter and EEDAR's Jesse Divnitch has all chimed into Rovio's plans to be listed as a public company on the NASDAQ in the new few years.
  • IGN's launched the "IGN PC Store." It'll still operate Direct2Drive, though.
  • Gameloft's holding a buy one, get one free sale for its HD title line-up for Android. PocketGamer has the details.
  • SEGA's confirmed that Captain America: Super Soldier will launch on July 19 in the US. Joystiq has new screens.
  • A group of analysts, including Pachter, have chimed in to Benzinga on the sales Homefront has seen so far.
  • GSW has details of a "Change The Lyrics" competition for Grammy-winning Civilization IV theme Baba Yetu.
  • Funcom's released a new trailer to show some graphical changes for Age of Conan. Gamefront has it.
  • Free-to-play publisher Nexton has invested $5 million into social developer A Bit Lucky. More on Gamasutra.
  • Hothead's been talking about Swarm on the US PS Blog. There's videos and screens through there.
  • Sledgehammer's hired its new community manager. His name is Guy Beahm. CVG has more.
  • Rare's announced it's hired former Codemasters, Midway and Sumo vet Craig Duncan as its senior studio director. "Craig joins us at an exciting time and his experience will be key to ensuring that Rare continues to create innovative, industry-leading products which delight and entertain," said studio manager Scott Henson.
