There have been 11 Total War games so far including console and mobile releases, kicking off in 2000 with Shogun: Total War. The Creative Assembly has wandered back and forth across 2,000 years of historyover the past decade and a half.

The developer estimates 4.8 billion battles have been waged in its strategy sims, with over 1 million players each month, clocking up an average of 104 hours on each game before they're done.

2015 will be Total War's biggest year yet, Sega said, what with digital and tablet title Total War Battles: Kingdom, 10v10 team strategy in Total War: Arena - and more, apparently.

The trailer below is said to hint at the future of the franchise, and we may learn more after EGX Rezzed this weekend.
