Total War: Rome 2 developer - PS4 "an adapted PC", proves PC gaming isn't dying

The Creative Assembly has always been a supporter of PC gaming, and is one of the first to defend the system when claims that it is "dying" come up. Now that PS4 has been revealed, Dom Starr, the campaign designer of Total War: Rome 2, says the console being "an adapted PC" is further proof that PC gaming is not even close to being in its death throws.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Starr said such a presumption is "ridiculous."

"I don't think PC is in any danger of dying," he said. "I think that's ridiculous. If anything, the fact that the new console, PS4, seems to pretty much be an adapted PC just goes to show that the platform is strong and [we're] likely to not see the death of it any time soon."

When asked if PS4 could be the first console to see a Total War game released on it, Starr said it's "always something that's being considered and it's a possibility," but beyond that he had no comment.

"Personally I think it would be nice to have Total War on console, get the experience to people who aren't necessarily PC gamers," he offered. "You'd have to adapt a fair bit if for a joypad controller. Something like the Wii U might be easier to do some - drawing battle lines, moving the units around in a bit more of an organic way.

"Or you could conceivably use [the DualShock 4 touch-pad] more like a mouse or a trackpad on a laptop. And in that case I suppose maybe you're just looking at a PC hooked up to a television and it would work in much the same way."

Total War: Rome 2 out sometime this year.
