Top Destiny 2 YouTubers and Twitch streamers are moving away from regular Destiny content

As opinions in the core Destiny 2 community continue to turn, many of the game's biggest supporters on YouTube and Twitch are starting to reconsider the future of their channels.

Bungie has been doing a poor job with Destiny 2 lately. The developer has made a number of key changes without communicating them, leaving fans to investigate, calling out the developer.

Bungie has apologised after players figure out what's actually happening, but the developer doesn't seem to be learning from the experience.

The studio has done it so many times in such a short period, too, messing up the Dawning event, and the Faction Rally earlier this month. Another problem reported by many of Destiny 2's regular players is that they don't approve of seeing more and more pieces of the game being locked behind Eververse loot boxes.

When the game's core audience is this displeased, you can bet the content creators that have been with the series since the beginning will also look for their hits elsewhere.

Over the weekend, two of the biggest Destiny 2 influencers announced that they're moving away from the constant stream of Destiny 2 content. YouTuber Datto, who built his channel before the launch of Destiny 1 by covering rumours and news leading up to it, has amassed a sizeable audience of Destiny players. His channel was called 'Datto Does Destiny' at one point, and anyone who played the game enough will no doubt recognise his videos.

Datto posts footage of other games, but Destiny is by and large the main event. He covers it regularly, uploading Xur videos, guides, uncut gameplay, and several opinion pieces about the game at different stages. In his most recent Xur video, the YouTuber said it may be the last one of those he uploads for a while.

He followed this up on Twitter, responding to subscriber questions about the lack of a Faction Rally video. "I just don't care nor can I get myself to care," he said.

On Twitch, MiscKingGothalian, one of the most recognisable Destiny streamers is also stepping away. Like Datto, Gothalian made his name streaming the original Destiny and every expansion and sequel since. He's part of a clan that regularly shoots for world-first clears of the game's various raids at launch.

Gothalian and his community are such fans of Destiny that his subscriber and bit badges are themed after Destiny Ghosts. In a message to subscribers, the Twitch streamer said he's going to be uncoupling his channel's branding from Destiny to "promote future growth."

"Hey buds. Short and sweet here. I love Destiny. Always will. Always have. But its time to separate my channel branding away from that game to promote future growth," he said, via Reddit.

"Sub badges will no longer be ghosts as soon as my new logo badges are completed and bit badges will be something different soon(tm). I love y'all and thank you for supporting a transition into more variety. Fortnite streams have been amazing. A lot of fun stuff on the horizon as well! Monster Hunter and Sea of Thieves is going to be a blast. Looking forward to it!"

Other big Destiny channels like MoreConsole, and previously SkillUp, have also expressed similar sentiments. In the case of SkillUp's, he stopped covering the game at the launch of Curse of Osiris after being very disappointed with the expansion.
