Tomb Raider movie script to be penned by TMNT writer

Tomb Raider will be Evan Daugherty's second reboot of an established universe.

The Tomb Raider movie reboot has signed on a writer and a distributor.

Deadline reports Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Divergent, Snow White And The Huntsman and G.I. Joe 3 writer Daugherty will write the film. Additionally, Warner Bros. has signed on to distribute, co-finance and co-produce with MGM.

The new Tomb Raider movie is set to be a reboot of the film franchise, which ran to two not-especially-well-received instalments with Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft (I liked 'em, though). The two earlier films grossed $432 million worldwide, and the reboot has been fast tracked.

Nobody has been cast to play the younger Lara Croft yet.

The Tomb Raider games were also rebooted (again) recently, and the new Crystal Dynamics effort did pretty well, eventually scoring a new-gen remaster and hitting Square Enix's sales targets. A sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider, is on the way, and will be an Xbox exclusive for an undisclosed period of time.
