Titanfall pre-orders cancelled in South Africa due to poor network tests [UPDATE]

Titanfall pre-orders placed in South Africa have been binned after local network tests turned up unsatisfactory, EA has confirmed on its South African Facebook page.

It follows confirmation that early Titanfall players will not be banned if they take their game online.

MP1st has posted a screen grab of EA's Origin platform, which included a message explaining the cancellations:

As you can see; this is not an indefinite cancellation, so we'll keep an eye on the situation to see if it changes.

EA posted the same message on its South African Facebook page, and you can look over it here.

Back in February, MyGaming predicted that Titanfall multiplayer was going to suffer in the region because it uses Microsoft's Azure servers, and that the country doesn't have a bank of them to call its own.

Microsoft's statement at the time said it was, "currently providing Azure services for South African customers through a vast worldwide network of Microsoft Datacentres. This allows us to provide world class service levels and deliver on financially backed Service Level Agreements. This worldwide network of Datacentres currently does not include a South African deployment due to the high Service Levels currently being experienced by our South African customers."

We'll keep an eye on this one to see how it transpires, but what do you think for now?
