Titanfall 2 fans are back on copium again, and they think an announcement is on the way

And honestly? They might be on to something.

If you were to ask a Titanfall 2 fan about the game right now, they'd tell you there's almost definitely an announcement of sorts coming.

Last week, Respawn Entertainment revealed its newest legend Conduit, whose backstory quite literally features titans. The trailer certainly made it seem like all those teases we've been seeing were just building towards the new character, but fans are still convinced something specifically Titanfall related is yet to be announced. Over on Reddit, fans have been gathering evidence that at least some kind of announcement is going to be made on the game's anniversary, October 28, which just so happens to be this week. Honestly? It does seem like something might be coming.

For one, there's the fact that Titanfall 2 is now back online, with the welcome message being updated from "I am the Advocate, I can find work for pilots who have skills," to, "I am the Advocate, welcome back to all pilots." Now, that one is just a small thing considering it's the first time players could actually play the game in a while. But, it's not the last time it's been updated. On October 19, the message changed to, "Receiving encrypted message.. Transmission To Pilot Failed…" Then on October 23, it changed again, this time to "Retrying To Send Encrypted Message.."

As it turned out, fans then found the encrypted message was in the description of a new gamemode, reading, "Receiving encrypted message.. Protocol Unknown.. Failed to decrypt.. Printing raw message.." as well as some hex code. This hex code was then translated to "from candy to copper," and as pointed out on Reddit, copper is the traditional gift you give on a seventh wedding anniversary. And yes, you probably guessed it, it's Titanfall 2's seventh anniversary this week to be precise.

On top of all of that, the limited time mode was also nicknamed "anniversaryprep," so yeah, it sure seems like something is coming. This should come with a heavy pinch of salt though, as a new game is super unlikely. But hey, I think Titanfall fans will take anything they can get at this point.
