THQ working on downloadable core brand titles

saintsrow2

THQ has said it's to release "up to six" downloadable titles within the next year, some based on the publisher's biggest IP.

Danny Bilson, THQ's EVP of core games, told Joystiq at GDC that the company would be "very aggressive" in bringing its titles to PSN, XBL and PC.

"We're going to be building stuff on some of our core brands," Bilson said, noting a strategy to create downloadable titles in the same universes as THQ's big core brands in order to improve awareness.

Bilson's also said plans include "giving away" upcoming downloadable games. Free is good.

Bilson added that by getting players "involved" in its franchises via downloadable titles, THQ can help drive retail sales.

There's more through there. Specific IPs aren't mentioned.
