This proof of concept footage shows Resident Evil-inspired TV series Arklay which wasn't picked up

Remember the Resident Evil-inspired TV series Arklay which was in the planning stages back in 2014? We couldn't remember at first either.

Arklay, the mountainous region to the north west of Raccoon City, was to be location of the Resident Evil TV series, hence the name.

The scripted survival horror series from filmmaker Shawn Lebert was centered around James Reinhardt, a detective who investigates mysterious homicides occurring in Raccoon City. It was set to air in 2015.

Distributor Mance Media didn't pick Arklay up after all, but all is not lost: you can watch this proof of concept for Arklay to see what might have been (thanks, PCgamesN).

Dubbed Dave, in the footage above detective Reinhardt comes upon a call to his brother's mansion. He finds Dave has supposedly committed suicide, but he feels otherwise. That's all we'll divulge as you will probably want to watch it for yourself.

According to the previously released description for Arklay, a fatal virus is connected to a conspiracy, and the murders surrounding Raccoon City. Reinhardt discovers he too has the virus (which is evident in the opening scene) and he is determined to find a cure and unravel the mysteries behind the events.

We kinda dug this actually. Gave us a Mulder and Scully vibe too. If it was on a prime cable channel, Netflix or Amazon Prime, we'd definitely have given it try.
