"This is the year where the PC is going to excel," says Call of Duty: WW2 PC developer Raven

Call of Duty: WW2, just like every Call of Duty game, is going to have a PC version. But, as the beta proved to many, the PC version is not an afterthought this year.

One of the biggest signs of that was the Call of Duty: WW2 open beta, which ends today. The beta ran relatively well, and boasted modest specs, an uncapped frame-rate, and other welcome features.

It turns out, it wasn't a coincidence. Raven Software, the studio responsible for the PC port (and War mode), recently discussed how it's making a special effort this year to bring PC players a proper Call of Duty.

"The World War 2 setting, and this game in particular I think, is very well suited for the PC community, in the way some of the recent releases haven't [been]," Raven CTO Dwight Luetscher told PCGamer.

As such, it's Raven's mission to deliver a game that matches expectations of the PC community, while being able to responds to player feedback. "I think this year there's a renewed energy around the PC," said Luetscher.

"We really believe this is the year where the PC is going to excel. This is the year that we're going to give it our best shot to win the hearts and minds of the PC community."

It's definitely a promising attitude, and will hopefully mean a player base at launch worthy of the Call of Duty name - something the past few Call of Duty games failed to attain.

Call of Duty: WW2 is out November 3 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
