The Wolf Among Us is a prequel to Fables, stars Bigby

A whole pile of new details regarding Telltale's adaptation of the Fables comic series have arrived, promising plenty of new story for fans of the franchise.

The Wolf Among Us serves as a prequel to the first comics, Telltale revealed in a lengthy preview from GameInformer. Although the story was written by TellTale, it was signed off by both DC and Fables creator Bill Willingham, which arguably makes it all canon.

It stars Bigby, once the Big Bad Wolf, who serves as the sheriff of the hidden community in New York its legendary characters reside. One of the key story themes is that Bigby must choose whether or not to protect Snow White; it should help fans understand why the two characters have always been locked up in sexual tension.

Despite its place in the series, The Wolf Among Us isn't linear. Players will not only be offered binary choices (the full article has some interesting discussion of how Telltale uses metrics to measure the success of decisions, by the way) but also allowed to decide which locations they visit. Some evnts will be time critical, leading to very different playthroughs.

Telltale has not yet dated The Wolf Among Us, or given exact platform information. We can probably expect a similar release pattern to The Walking Dead, though.
