The Witcher 3: Message From an Old Friend walkthrough

Here's one for Witcher fans with good memories.

The Message From an Old Friend quest isn't at all troublesome to complete in The Witcher 3, but some players may find themselves confused as to why bookstore owner, Marcus, has held onto this book for Geralt for all these years.

Well, this book hails back to the events of the first The Witcher game, and a particular character who Geralt had once known. It's a nice Easter egg for keen fans and lore-hounds, and considering you get some Crowns for completing the quest, it's worth completing either way. Without further ado, here's how to complete the Message From an Old Friend quest in The Witcher 3.

The Witcher 3: Message From an Old Friend walkthrough

The Message From an Old Friend quest in The Witcher 3 begins when you speak with the proprietor of a book store to the north of Heirarch Square in Novigrad. He has a gift for you, left by an old connection. He remembers that it's a red book, but isn't quite sure on where he's put it.

Wander the shop using your Witcher Senses to locate red books. You can take every one you find and sell them back to the shop, if you like.

Eventually you'll find the correct one - My Manifesto: The Life of Jacques de Aldersberg - near the stairs on the second floor. Open the note inside to complete the quest, and bag yourself some XP and Crowns.

Confused by the book and why it's important? Never mind. It all makes sense to someone, somewhere... Specifically, though, this is a neat Easter egg for those who remember The Witcher.
