Witcher 3 Hearts of Stone: How to Romance Shani

  • Starting location: Brunwich
  • Quest: A Midnight Clear
  • Associated main quest: Dead Man’s Party

Begin by playing through the Dead Man’s Party main story quest until you gain access to a new quest called A Midnight Clear near the end of the wedding. Your goal is to try to cheer up Shani, meaning that it’s time for Geralt to get in touch with his romantic side.

First, open the menu and read Shani’s Character entry in the Journal to find out what might cheer her up. If you were paying attention to Shani earlier when you first arrived at the wedding, you’ll remember that she has a particular fondness for rowan plants.

Find Something to Cheer Shani Up

Next you must use your Witcher Senses to find something that will cheer Shani up. You can choose to bring Shani a bottle of mead on the table nearby, or perhaps pick her some rowan berries. There will be three areas highlighted on your map indicating items for you to examine. Locate and examine the item of your choice, and pick the item to bring to Shani. We chose the rowan plant, since it seemed like the most fitting item.

It wouldn't be a Witcher game if Geralt didn't have a romantic interest. This time it's Shani.

Head to the barn where Shani is located, and note the quirky comment uttered by a woman near the entrance. When you give Shani the present, she will begin to engage in some introspective conversation with Geralt. When prompted, we opted to tell her “You’ve got me”. Even if it’s possible to get the romance scene by picking different dialogue options, we will guide you through our dialogue choices from here since we know they worked for us.

You will eventually go outside for a walk with Shani. At the first timed dialogue option, select “It was alright”. At the next dialogue choice, we chose “‘Unfit’ - what’s that mean?”, though you might be able to pick the other option. At the next timed dialogue option, we chose to say “That was Vlodomir, not me”. Soon after, we said, “Let her down easy. I prefer you.”

The sexual tension rises between the pair as Geralt and Shani continue toward the lake. When prompted, we told Shani “Better by a mile.” At the timed dialogue option a few moments later, we said, “Kiss sure didn’t sate me,” which seems to be the pretty obvious choice if you want their romance scene to happen.

At this point, you are pretty much guaranteed to experience the sex scene. Depending on the present you chose to give Shani earlier, one final timed dialogue can occur soon after Shani and Geralt make their way to the pier. Choose either “You probably shouldn’t mix,” or “You’re right, let’s empty it.” From here, Geralt proceeds to take Shani ‘to the moon’. You’re welcome. Depending on your choice for the final dialogue option, the sex scene will have some slight variation.

Afterward, Geralt will have one more conversation with Shani on the beach. Once Shani leaves and Geralt gets dressed, the quest concludes.
