The newest Destiny update is asking PS4 players to re-download the 18 GB patch

If you're really unlucky, get ready for another whopper of a download in the latest Destiny patch.

Bungie have been getting reports from PS4 players who are being prompted to re-download the 18GB patch from update 2.0.

If you're getting this message, don't panic right away. Bungie had stated that "Some players are reporting that while the download says it's a full 18 GB, it actually only downloading today's small patch. This is the expected behavior for PlayStation 4 downloads."

But a handful of unfortunate souls are having to sit through another 18GB download, while other issues include the patch showing up as patch 1.17 rather than 2.01, and some players receiving a 'corrupted data' message.

Needless to say, people in the forums are pretty grumpy about it. You can find the full post from Bungie below:

Hello all,

Thank you for your report of this issue. We are actively investigating why some players on the PlayStation 4 are being required to re-download the full 18 GB patch history. We are also aware that this patch may be showing up as Patch 1.17 on the console instead of Patch 2.0.1, this appears to be the client version of the patch number. We apologize for the inconvenience, but please continue your download.

12:35 PM PDT 10/13/2015 EDIT TO ADD: From player reports, please note the following additional information:

• If you are encountering a 'corrupted data' error message, you may want to stop your download, clear your console cache, and then restart the download.

• Some players are reporting that while the download says it's a full 18 GB, it actually only downloading today's small patch. This is the expected behavior for PlayStation 4 downloads. However, we are still investigating the reports from some players that they are being required to re-download the full 18 GB.
